SSL Certificate Terms

These SSL Certificate Terms apply when you purchase, validate, install or renew an SSL/TLS certificate through Orbi Hosting. We resell certificates issued by third-party Certificate Authorities ("CAs"); your certificate is also subject to the issuing CA's Subscriber Agreement and Certificate Policy.

1. Issuance and validation

• Certificates are issued by the CA once domain (and, for some products, organisation) validation is completed. You must complete validation promptly and provide accurate information.
• We do not control the CA's issuance decisions or timescales, and issuance is not guaranteed if validation cannot be completed.

2. Your responsibilities

• You must generate and safeguard your private key. If your private key is lost or compromised, the certificate may be unusable and must be reissued or revoked.
• You must use the certificate only for lawful purposes and for the domains it was issued for.
• You must comply with the issuing CA's Subscriber Agreement.

3. Revocation

A CA may revoke a certificate in accordance with its policies (for example on key compromise, misissuance, or a change in domain control). We will pass on revocation requirements where they apply.

4. Fees and refunds

Certificate fees are charged in advance. Because certificates are issued by a third party and activated immediately, they are generally non-refundable once issued. Where a certificate has not yet been issued, a refund may be available at our or the CA's discretion.

5. Limitation

Any warranty attaching to a certificate is provided by the issuing CA on its terms. Except as set out in our Terms of Service, we give no additional warranty in respect of certificates.
